The fascinating story of the Memorial Stone at Budapest's Heroes' Square
The original idea was to create a vertical rock wall by blasting part of Gellért Hill to establish a memorial in honour of the Hungarians who fought and died in the First World War. It was a long path from that to the Memorial Stone we see today.
